Frequently asked questions

Where do the exhibitions come from?

From the websites of the museums, art halls and galleries themselves. We read their programme pages regularly and check the details against fixed rules. We also use OpenStreetMap and Wikidata. The exhibition link always opens the venue's original page.

How up to date is the information?

The data is refreshed once a week, and the app loads the latest version when you open it. Dates and especially opening hours sometimes change at short notice, so check them on the venue's website before you go.

Who writes the short texts about venues and artists?

We create them with the help of AI from public sources and review every text before it appears in the app. If you still spot a mistake, let us know.

Something is wrong or a venue is missing.

Thanks for telling us! Write to hallo@vidarte.app, ideally with the name of the venue and the exhibition. We'll fix it with the next data update.

Which galleries are included?

Galleries with their own exhibition programme, regular opening hours and several artists. You'll find them in the Galleries tab. Run a gallery and want to be included? Get in touch.

How do I plan a visit?

Save exhibitions or venues and tap “Plan a visit”. Pick one or more days: Vidarte shows whether everything is open and spreads the venues across the days. You can add each day to your calendar and open the route in Apple Maps or Google Maps.

What does “New” mean on my saved venues?

When a saved venue announces a new exhibition, Vidarte shows it in your saved list and sends a notification at most every few days. You can turn this off in Settings.

Do I need an account?

No. Vidarte works without signing up. Your saved list, plans, visited marks and settings stay on your iPhone only.

Will I lose my saved list if I delete the app?

Yes, for now, because it is stored on the device only. Syncing via iCloud is planned.

Why does the app ask for my location?

Only to show venues near you and distances. Your location is processed on your iPhone and is not sent to us. Without permission, simply choose a city yourself.

What does the anonymous click count include?

Only how often the exhibition link, website, route and share buttons are tapped per venue and day, as a total with no link to you or your device. It lets us show venues how many visitors come through Vidarte. You can turn it off in Settings. Details are in the privacy policy.

I don't get any reminders.

In your iPhone settings under Notifications › Vidarte, check that notifications are allowed, and in Vidarte's settings check that reminders are switched on.
